CTT bets on sustainability and entrusts optimization of 900 facilities to Nextbitt

Sustainable physical asset management platform helps CTT achieve a net zero carbon balance by 2030

Lisbon, December 7, 2023 - Nextbitt, the Portuguese market leader in physical asset management and sustainability, is the platform selected by CTT to integrate the management of approximately 900 facilities, representing more than 500,000 m2. Currently, all CTT facilities, namely stores, operational buildings and central services buildings, are working on Nextbitt for better and more efficient asset management.

CTT chose Nextbitt because it is a solution with strong recognition in the market, with flexibility and the possibility of integration with other systems, namely with the management system (SAP) or building management systems (GTC), as well as the ability to scale and respond to the complex challenges presented by the company.

Ana Catarina Dias, Director of Physical Resources and Security at CTT, says that "With Nextbitt, we have more than 1,000 users and approximately 100 connected suppliers. The Physical Assets Department team manages more than 10,000 requests a year at more than 800 facilities across the country, in terms of corrective maintenance alone, and the implementation of preventive maintenance in its various forms is underway, which represents an additional 2,000 interventions." He adds that "the implementation of Nextbitt has made it possible to manage and control corrective and preventive maintenance in a single application, with direct interaction between the Physical Resources team and internal customers and our suppliers. We now have A to Z visibility of orders, from their origin to their completion, with control of the associated costs and deadlines, a fundamental aspect for a company of this size."

For Miguel Salgueiro, Founder & Partner of Nextbitt, "integrating our platform into an operation as complex as CTT's was a challenge for Nextbitt. As such, we are delighted with the results. However, this is just the first step. Looking to the future, together with CTT, we are carrying out a sensorization pilot in the headquarters building, which aims to monitor and audit energy, water, air quality, temperature, humidity and other issues in real time, thereby helping to improve energy efficiency and sustainability indicators. Our aim is to be a partner of CTT in integrating sustainable practices into all levels and processes of the organization."

As a result of the implementation of the Nextbitt platform, the platform's more than 1,000 users across the country can make requests, such as for various repairs, taps, electrical installations, air conditioning, or requests for refurbishment, painting, layout changes and additional cleaning, and monitor their execution throughout the process. By 2023, the platform is expected to manage more than 10,000 corrective maintenance requests, plus more than 2,000 preventive maintenance actions. This centralized management allows the Facility Management team to gain efficiency through better planning and organization of the different processes.

On the other hand, there has also been a significant evolution in terms of cost management. The fact that service providers register all their activity directly on the platform (either through the portal or a native Android APP) has also simplified the operation of the CTT team, which has focused its activity on validating and analyzing data, substantially reducing the burden of handling emails and registering information.

In line with the latest trends in management, CTT has strengthened its commitment to sustainability since 2022, defining its commitments in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These SDGs are an integral part of the company's strategy, culture and daily operations. That's why CTT has set itself an ambitious strategic goal: to achieve a net zero carbon balance by 2030. Achieving this result implies a transversal effort in the most diverse dimensions of its operation, including the management of its physical assets.
